Hyderabad: Barely hours after the High Court granted him bail in an assault and trespassing case filed by a Congress leader, BRS spokesperson Manne Krishank was taken into custody by the Nirmal police at the Sangareddy prison on Thursday.
Subsequently, he was shifted to the local court in Nirmal, which granted him police custody for Friday.
The Nirmal police arrested him in connection with a pending case where he was the eighth accused (A-8) for a social media post against the Congress government.
On the occasion, BRS leaders in Nirmal alleged that Krishank was
subjected to torture in custody and transported to the Nirmal police station in a private car, flouting standard transfer norms and compromising his physical safety.
Speaking to media persons, Krishank alleged that he continued to face harassment despite securing bail from the High Court. He accused the Congress government of targeting him for questioning or exposing its alleged failures and irregularities.
“I am being harassed even after the High Court granted me bail. They are shifting me from one police station to another in the name of interrogation. But we have faith in the judiciary and the law,” Krishank said.
BRS leaders alleged that the State government could deploy another police team to arrest him in yet another case. More than 30 cases are currently pending against Krishank in different police stations across Telangana.
