Notice against daily feeding centre is politically motivated: Ex-MLA Konappa

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Former Sirpur (T) MLA Koneru Konappa regretted that he was targeted for feeding the poor. He addressed media persons in Kagaznagar on Wednesday.

Stating that municipal officials suddenly issued a notice asking him to vacate Nitya Annadana Satram or daily poor feeding centre for occupying more space than allotted a few days back, Konappa denied the allegations and found fault with the officials for serving the notice.

“We did not encroach a single yard. The land was measured in the presence of the public. However, we were wondering as to why the notice was issued,” he clarified.

He suspected a political conspiracy behind the notice. He opined that causing hurdles to service oriented feeding initiatives was regrettable. He requested officials to review their decision. He said that God would not forgive those who try to close the poor feeding centre. He alleged two certain leaders were attempting to shut down the centre.

The former MLA said that he had constructed the centre in 800 sq yards. The officials alleged that the centre was built in 1,600 sq yards. The allegations were baseless and false, he stated. He announced that they would launch a massive protest in front of the centre if officials did not reply to a letter sent by him over the issue.

He had established the centre in a piece of land located opposite a bus station in Kagaznagar town with an objective to feed the poor with dignity on the lines of a similar initiative run by Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam (TTD), in 2021. The municipality allotted the land and granted permission for the centre. Around 2 lakh persons per year are fed annually, as per organisers.
