Hyderabad: A man from the Cyberabad region lost nearly Rs 1.75 lakh allegedly after downloading a fake movie app from a Facebook advertisement.
Police said the app contained malware that accessed SMS and OTPs, enabling fraudsters to withdraw Rs 80,000 from his account and Rs 95,000 from his mother’s account linked to the same phone.
A case has been registered.
